HEMS

Helicopter Emergency Medical Service is used when the patient has serious injury or is critically ill and requires urgent hospitalization or surgery in the hospital with appropriate facilities. Also sometimes HEMS is called for when no other way of transportation is possible due to bad road condition or absence of roads at all.

Depending on the distance of flight and number of passengers we use Russian helicopters MI – 8, MI – 6 or Eurocopters. The average response period for the helicopter is 1,5 – 2 hours from the time when the telephone call was accepted.

When the patient is more than 600-700 km from St. – Petersburg, we activate our regional contact network and perform evacuations to the closest medical facilities (usually to the Regional Hospitals).
